Microwaves Focused by a Parabolic Reflector

photo The microwave radiation from the horn antenna is reflected from the parabolic surface of the metal reflector, and the radiation is concentrated near the reflectors focal point. The concentration of energy ionizes the neon gas in the glass bulb and the lighted gas defines the structure of the electric field near the focal region. Again, the glowing regions are half a wavelength apart.
